Location: South West St. Elizabeth, Jamaica
Problem:
In the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa, communities across Jamaica are facing unimaginable hardship. More than 600,000 people are still without reliable access to safe drinking water or electricity. Families have reached out to us directly, pleading for help with one urgent message:
“We need Hydronamis Disaster Relief Devices here in Jamaica.”
Entire neighborhoods remain cut off. Damaged infrastructure, blocked roads, and destroyed utilities have slowed recovery efforts, leaving remote villages especially vulnerable.
One of the most heartbreaking impacts has been on children. Over 20 early childhood and primary schools have been damaged or destroyed. Classrooms have been flattened. Roofs torn away. Learning disrupted. Repair costs range from $50,000 to over $15,000,000, with some individual schools requiring up to $4,000,000 for full restoration.
For many children, school is more than a building, it is safety, stability, community, and hope.
Without immediate intervention, their education and future opportunities face long-term, and even permanent setbacks.
The Hydronamis Solution:
The Hydronamis Disaster Relief Device (DRD) was engineered for moments like this.
Each DRD delivers:
- Up to 225 gallons of safe drinking water per day
- 5.4 kW of renewable solar-generated electricity
- Portable, waterproof, all-in-one infrastructure ready for rapid deployment
This is not temporary aid.
This is sustainable, life-sustaining infrastructure built to operate for decades.
With your support, we will manufacture and deploy DRDs directly to the hardest-hit communities in St. Elizabeth, helping stabilize schools and provide the foundational resources children need to safely return to learning.
We are partnering with Carry On Jamaica to ensure proper deployment and community integration of every unit delivered.
Together, we can restore water, power, and hope.
Goal:
To help restore safe, functioning learning environments for children who have lost everything.
Your support will help provide:
- Safe, clean drinking water for students and families
- Reliable solar-generated electricity
- Refrigeration for food and medicine
- Lighting for safe classrooms and evening study
- Internet connectivity for education and opportunity
- Tools for food growth and long-term sustainability
This is not emergency relief alone.
This is infrastructure that rebuilds communities from the ground up.
Community Profile:
Carry On Jamaica is actively working to rebuild schools across St. Elizabeth. In some areas, temporary learning spaces, including large tent structures, have been established just to keep education going.
But children deserve more than survival conditions.
At St. Theresa Basic School and others like it, hurricane damage left roofs destroyed and classrooms exposed. Across the region, nearly 20 schools face extensive repair needs.
Schools in St. Elizabeth are more than buildings. They are the heart of their communities, places where children learn, dream, and grow.
Despite devastation, teachers and families remain determined to keep hope alive. Even in temporary shelters, learning continues.
Together with Carry On Jamaica and community partners, we are committed to restoring safe, thriving environments where children can carry on learning and growing.
When communities rise, children rise too. Together, we carry on.
